renovation monumental building

The Berchmanianum is a national monument of the Radboud University in Nijmegen. It is a national monument and dates from 1929. Until 2016 this was a monastery of the Society of Jesus.
Activities S2H
In 2015 S2H, in collaboration with BBP Advies, was commissioned to prepare advice for the renovation of the technical installations in the building and the grounds. All phases from initiative to aftercare were advised and supervised by S2H. Within this project all installations were demolished and a completely new electrical and mechanical installation was installed. The monumental features of the building have been closely incorporated into the design during the design process in collaboration with the architect. Various old features such as the vaulted ceiling, the chapel and the tiled floors have been restored in a renovated state. On the 3rd floor an old wooden beam construction has been found which was hidden behind sheet material. This now serves as an open office garden where the beam layer is illuminated to accentuate it.
The renovation was completed at the end of 2018 and the building was occupied by the Executive Board and other staff services.
