DURABILITY

The Centrum voor Tandzorg asked S2H to look into the sustainable solution for the climate installation and the use of a PV installation (solar panels).

One of the starting points was to consider this as a whole and to integrate it into the building, whereby ventilation, cooling and heating in the building are fed by its own energy generator.

However, based on the idea of ​​making the building more sustainable, we felt that this should be seen as one big whole and that we should be the first to make the building itself more sustainable. This by insulating the existing shell (the facades, the floor and the roof) and also improving the existing outer frames in terms of insulation values.

The result has been that the building has been given a new coat, as it were, and has been completely provided with a new insulation layer, which limits the heat demand in winter and cold demand in summer.

Furthermore, all new exterior frames are fitted with high-quality glazing (triple glazing). This has a very high insulation value and keeps the solar heat out as much as possible in the summer, but lets in as much light as possible in the winter.

Investments were not only made in the insulation of the building’s shell, but also in technology to make and maintain the climate pleasant in the future. It also looked at the new requirements that are set to prevent virus spreading. For example, there is now sufficient ventilation in every room, so that everyone remains fresh and clear at a pleasant temperature.

The lighting is tailored to the use of the relevant space, on the one hand functional, on the other hand atmospheric for the areas where this is desired, but of course equipped with economical LED light sources. In rooms where this is possible, they are automatically switched on when someone is present and when there is insufficient daylight in the rooms.

All in all, a building that is prepared for the future and in this way can provide care for its clients for years to come.
